Our drivers will take you from Livorno’s harbor and in 30 minutes you will be in Lucca, an ancient and medieval city, founded by the Etruscans and became Roman colony in 180 BC.
The walls around the old town were retained intact as the city expanded and modernized. As the wide walls lost their military importance, they became a pedestrian promenade ringing the old town. Lucca is also the birthplace of composers like Giacomo Puccini, Luigi Boccherini and Alfredo Catalani.
After a visit to the city we will leave to Florence. the capital city of Tuscany. The best-known site and crowning architectural jewel of Florence is the domed cathedral of the city, Santa Maria del Fiore, known as “The Duomo”. The magnificent dome was built by Filippo Brunelleschi. The nearby Campanile tower (partly designed by Giotto) and the Baptistery buildings are also highlights.
Piazzale Michealngelo, Piazza del Duomo, and all the other stunning beuties of the city, with the possibility to book for museums (Monday all closed). We will get into the heart of the historical center of the city passing through all the inner squares (impossibile by a normal tour bus!).
In the afternoon we will return to your ship, in perfect time for departure.
